That’s the intuitive assumption — but thermal heat transfer tells the real story. In real-world measurements, our mug actually cut the initial heat loss nearly in half compared to a standard ceramic mug. The way heat escapes in the first few minutes matters more than wall thickness alone.

What do you mean by “initial heat loss”?

The biggest temperature drop happens in the first few minutes, when the coffee is hottest and you take your first sips. Our testing showed that the Uttak slows that early heat dump, keeping those first sips noticeably hotter and thus holding temperature longer than ceramic.

Will I actually notice a difference when I’m drinking coffee?

Was this tested in a lab or in real use?

I sip a big coffee over a long time and reheat it. Is this mug for me?

Probably not — and we’d rather you know that up front. This mug is designed for fresh-cup drinkers who enjoy a cup during a normal coffee session (think ~10–30 minutes). If you typically sip a large coffee over hours and rely on reheating, you’ll eventually run out of temperature no matter what mug you use, and this mug isn’t microwave-safe, so it won’t match that routine.

Can I put the whole mug in the dishwasher?

No. The stainless steel insert is dishwasher safe, but the outer vessel must be hand washed with warm soapy water.

How do I remove the stainless-steel insert?

Flip the mug over and place your thumb into the release port at the bottom. A light press will disengage the core with a satisfying pop, allowing you to lift it out for cleaning.

How hard do I press to put the core back in?

Do I need to preheat the cup?
